Pygmalion's Art Tutorials: About Color Schemes: Analogous
The analogous color scheme uses colors that are adjacent to each other on the color wheel. One color is used as a dominant color while others are used to enrich the scheme. The analogous scheme is similar to the monochromatic one, but offers more nuances in its variation of color. It is a good choice for when you want something simple and clean.
Find below, a screen shot from the Kuler web site to see an example of an analogous color scheme.
The six color schemes are: Monochromatic, Analogous, Complementary, Split Complementary, Triadic and Tetradic. Make sure you review all of them to get a complete understanding of color schemes.
