Pygmalion's Art Tutorials: About Color Schemes: Triadic
The triadic color scheme uses three colors equally spaced around the color wheel and is named after the Greek word for the number Three - Tri.
This scheme is popular among artists because it offers strong visual contrast while retaining balance, and color richness. The triadic scheme is not as contrasting as the complementary scheme and it looks more balanced and harmonious.
Find below, a screen shot from the Kuler web site to see an example of a triadic color scheme.
The six color schemes are: Monochromatic, Analogous, Complementary, Split Complementary, Triadic and Tetradic. Make sure you review all of them to get a complete understanding of color schemes.
